Eyes that see far into the distance, Beyond the horizon of the present. You were warned. The eagle perches, Carrying only arrows. Celestial string sections rehearse the Requiem — Reckoning For all with the lust for blood in their hearts. Canines, red-stained from consuming their own flesh. You, cannibal. You, covetous. You, animal. You, obedient and presumptuous, Blinded by acrimony. The shining gold coin, clasped in the claw-hooved hand of the beast, One that’s tempted many before your time. Shove their doctrine in your ears. Ease your burden. Constitution of weakness. Turn away... No! You will turn to face the fire you fed, Watch it become a pyre for the forest. The trees weep for their severed branches, Which will now never bear fruit — Kindling to burn the bodies of their kin. On whose altar do you place this sacrament? Wine will spill over the edges of the cup. The river will foam — we will float, Another Atlantis. The pillars, piled on the floor of the ocean, Our Ozymandias. Come and see.

Wow. And ending with Come and See, damn. Not sure if it’s meant to be a film reference but certainly works as one. Well done!
The imagery of ruin, the iconography of our cyclical history, a great poem brimming with cathartic angst! I enjoyed it a lot.
